WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has made another serious warning to the Iranian regime, declaring that the whole country will be annihilated if an agreement is not reached, with virtually nothing being left. According to Trump, who was talking to ABC News, the Middle East issue should be solved in days and not in weeks.
“I don’t think that sending our troops will definitely be necessary but it may also become one of our options,” Trump commented. “The agreement can be reached tomorrow or never.”
“The Middle East crisis should come to an end in days, not in weeks. If we can’t reach an agreement, we could destroy the whole of Iran, leaving very little behind,” he added.
On Sunday, Trump threatened the Iranians that they would pay heavily if they failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for international oil transportation.
In his statement published on social media, he stated, “If Iran doesn’t open the Strait of Hormuz, we’ll target the civil infrastructure, and Iran will meet its doom. Tuesday will be Power Plants day and Bridge Day for Iran.”
Furthermore, Trump added that if the strait was kept shut, “Life will be hell for them; you just watch.” This remark came before the deadline that President Trump had set for Iran to expire, which was within 48 hours.
The strait has been closed ever since February, after tensions were raised in the region.
In yet another interview, Trump disclosed that if Iran did not agree to terms soon, the United States would consider blowing up everything in Iran, including its oil. Trump declared, “Bridges and power plants in Iran will be blown up.”
Trump said that some members of the Iranian government have started negotiations, and the chances of reaching a consensus are high by Monday. Trump also pointed out that the Iranians involved in the negotiation had been pardoned.
Iran is ready for talks, deal likely to be reached by Monday: Trump hints
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that Iran is interested in negotiations and expressed confidence that a deal will be reached by Monday. Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, he confirmed that the U.S. had attempted to deliver weapons to the protesters in Iran, but those weapons ended up with the Kurds instead.
Fox News Journalist Trey Yingst mentioned that he spoke with President Trump for about 15 minutes, during which the president also highlighted behind-the-scenes efforts to negotiate with Iran. Trump noted that those in Iran who are open to negotiations would not be harmed. He reiterated that a deal is expected by Monday and warned that if it does not materialise, the U.S. would take strong action, potentially targeting Iranian bridges, power plants, and oil facilities.
According to Yingst, President Trump also revealed information regarding secret U.S. actions during the protests in Iran. He alleged that the U.S. sent a significant number of weapons to Iran with the intention of inciting violent protests through the Kurds, although it seems the Kurds retained those weapons. Additionally, President Trump threatened Iran on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that if it does not immediately open the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s bridges and power plants will face severe attacks on Tuesday.
