PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rescue 1122 reported 2,613 traffic accidents in March, indicating an increase in reckless driving and poor road infrastructure contributing to these incidents.
In a comprehensive performance report for March 2026, Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highlighted its critical role in managing road safety, responding to 2,613 road traffic accidents throughout the province.
According to Bilal Ahmed Faizi, Spokesperson for Rescue 1122, these accidents were part of a broader surge in demand that saw the service provide timely assistance in 20,104 emergencies, reaching a total of 20,002 citizens.
The monthly data underscores a heavy burden on emergency medical services, with 11,994 medical emergencies reported alongside the high volume of traffic collisions. Across the province, 443 people were injured during these various accidents and incidents. Beyond the roads, the service managed 404 fires, 395 crime-related calls, 45 drownings, 16 building collapses, and 543 other miscellaneous emergencies.
The service also maintained a robust patient transfer network, shifting 4,218 patients between facilities. This included 2,024 patients moved between hospitals within their own districts and 2,069 patients who required specialised care and were shifted to hospitals outside their home districts to ensure they received the necessary medical attention.
