Nowshera Cantt Police arrested the ringleader of an inter-district dacoit gang who robbed Rs 2.5 million from a cement dealer near Kashti Pul at gunpoint.

SDPO Nowshera Cantt Circle Hafeez Yousafzai, while briefing the media in his office, said that Hassan Ibrahim son of Hameedullah, resident of Shah Mir Garhi, Nowshera Kalan, had filed a report at Nowshera Cantt Police Station on September 26, 2025, that he was in the cement business and had collected Rs 2.5 million from the shopkeepers and was going to his office in Alam Plaza via Kashti Pul when two armed suspects on a motorcycle stopped him at gunpoint, snatched the money and fled.

Similarly, in another incident, Sajid Ali son of Fazal Haq, resident of Nadi Nadia Jahangira, filed a report of a robbery at MCB Bank near GT Road on October 25, 2025, in which motorcycle-borne suspects snatched Rs 165,000 from him.

On the instructions of District Police Chief Ahmed Shah, a team consisting of SHO Cantt Police Station Kashif Khan and Inspector Anwar Khan was formed, which started a fresh investigation into these cases. Based on modern investigation methods and information from a special informant, it was found that the main accused of the robberies had fled abroad.

Later, on the information of the arrival of accused Saqib son of Latif, resident of Chota Lahore, District Swabi, the police took action and arrested him. During the investigation, the accused confessed to the crime and recovered Rs 1.2 million and 70 thousand of the looted money, while the weapon used in the incident was also seized.

According to the police, the accused has also revealed the name of his accomplice, but it has been kept confidential for the sake of investigation. Raids are being conducted at various locations to arrest the co-accused and his arrest is expected soon.
