Two new explosions were heard in the diplomatic quarter in the Saudi capital Riyadh, which was close to the US embassy. Earlier, there were two drone attacks on the US embassy, which resulted in a limited fire.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the building was partially damaged in the attack, but there were no casualties as the building was empty. US President Donald Trump, while announcing his response to the incident, said that a response to the attack on the US embassy in Riyadh will be given soon, and this response will also include revenge for the deaths of American soldiers.
Saudi authorities and US diplomatic sources have launched further investigations to determine responsibility for the incident and prevent such attacks in the future.
The Middle East is currently engulfed in a rapidly expanding conflict following the launch of Operation Epic Fury (U.S.) and Operation Roaring Lion (Israel) on February 28, 2026. The geopolitical landscape has been shattered by the confirmed death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the subsequent wave of Iranian retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. and Israeli interests across the globe.
Early this morning, the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh was struck by two drones. The Saudi Defense Ministry confirmed that the UAVs hit the roof and the perimeter of the chancery, sparking a “limited fire.” While material damage was reported, there were no immediate casualties as the building was largely empty at the time of the strike. The embassy has since issued a “shelter-in-place” order for all U.S. citizens in the Kingdom.
It is to mentioned here that U.S. Consulate in Karachi also faced a lethal security breach. Thousands of pro-Iranian protesters attempted to storm the compound. U.S. Marine Security Guards and local forces opened fire to prevent a full takeover, resulting in the deaths of 10 to 16 protesters. All U.S. diplomatic missions in Pakistan remain closed as a three-day curfew was briefly imposed in several cities.
