WASHINGTON: The White House has said that there are a number of reasons why it is necessary to take action against Iran, while also telling Iran that it would be a good idea to make a deal.

During a press briefing, spokesperson Caroline Leavitt said that progress has been made regarding the Iran situation and that Iranian representatives are expected to return in the coming weeks with more information. She also said that diplomatic talks with Iran are still in progress.

Leavitt also said that President Donald Trump will be hosting the Board of Peace meeting on Thursday. Nations are expected to announce their pledges of aid, which will be over $5 billion, with over 20 nations in attendance at this major international event.

Regarding the current government shutdown in the US, Leavitt stated that President Trump has not yet spoken directly with Democratic leaders regarding the issue.

Regime change will be best option for Iran: Donald Trump

Earlier, ‎US President Trump has said that a change of power in Iran would be the best option that could happen.

‎He said that the world’s largest aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford is being sent to the Middle East. If there is no deal with Iran, we will need it.

‎Trump said that the fleet will be sent to the Middle East soon, one of our fleets is already in the Middle East.

‎He said that if the negotiations are not successful, Iran may face serious consequences.

‎The US President further said that he expects the negotiations with Iran to be successful. We want a deal with Iran.
