PESHAWAR: Employees from the Accelerated Implementation Program (AIP) merged districts, including paramedics, nurses, and doctors, protested in front of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The demonstrators held banners with slogans supporting their demands. The protest was led by Ahmed Amin, who spoke to Pakhtun Digital about their situation, stating that they have not received salaries for six months, leading to significant financial hardship for the employees.

Amin mentioned that their employment contracts are set to expire in June each year. They were hired under the AIP project of the health department, and it has now been five years since their employment began. Every year, they stage protests in front of the provincial assembly to advocate for the extension of their contracts.

Qamar Ayub, a male nurse participating in the protest, explained that their contracts expired in June, which is why they have not received their salaries. He pointed out that ministers are unable to visit the tribal districts despite having the necessary protocol and security, while the healthcare workers continue to serve in those areas. The protesters are demanding that the government grant them permanent positions in the hospitals located in the tribal districts.
