ISLAMABAD:  Federal capital authorities have intensified crackdown against vehicles without M-Tags following the expiry of the registration deadline, with checks underway at multiple points across the city.

Officials said M-Tag readers are fully operational at key entry and exit points to identify vehicles lacking the electronic tags.

Director General Excise said vehicles found without M-Tags are being stopped as part of the ongoing crackdown.

To facilitate motorists, M-Tag installation services are being provided at 17 designated booths across Islamabad.

Authorities confirmed that a total of 166,888 vehicles have so far been issued M-Tags, including 3,130 vehicles registered in the last 24 hours.

Officials urged citizens to obtain M-Tags at the earliest to avoid fines or legal action, warning that no exemptions would be granted.

The operation is being carried out in coordination with the Safe City Authority, traffic police and district administration to ensure strict enforcement.

The M-Tag system was introduced to modernize traffic management, improve toll collection and reduce congestion at toll plazas.

Authorities said the registration process is simple, requiring only a vehicle’s registration documents and the owner’s CNIC, with tags issued immediately after verification.

Officials added that timely compliance would help streamline traffic flow and improve overall road safety in the capital.
