NOWESHERA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and has successfully thwarted a drug smuggling attempt at the Ajab Bagh Check Post in Nowshera.
Following the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, the department has intensified its anti-narcotics operations across the province to combat drug trafficking and related crimes.
In a recent operation conducted by the Excise Police Station in Mardan at the Ajab Bagh Check Post, officials intercepted a vehicle and discovered 5.25 maunds (210,000 grams) of hashish during a thorough search. A case has been registered, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The operation was supervised by Majid Khan, Excise and Taxation Officer (Narcotics Control), and Akif Nawaz Khan, Circle Officer. The raiding team was led by Imad Khan, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Excise Police Station Mardan, with significant contributions from Lal Gul Khan, Sub-Inspector and In-charge of the Ajab Bagh Check Post, along with other officials.
During the search of the vehicle with registration number LES-8670, a large quantity of hashish was recovered, successfully thwarting an attempt to smuggle narcotics.
Provincial Minister Syed Fakhar Jehan reiterated the commitment to strictly enforce the zero-tolerance policy against drug smuggling and sales. He emphasized that all available resources will be utilized to further strengthen and mobilize the Excise Force in the fight against drug-related issues.
The provincial government, under the vision of Chairman Imran Khan and the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi, remains dedicated to creating a drug-free society and protecting the future of the younger generation.
