A new study suggests that as little as ten minutes of daily exercise might prevent bowel cancer from setting in.

Researchers at Newcastle University found that even short bursts of physical activity can trigger immediate favorable biological changes in the bloodstream, equipping the body with natural protection against the development of bowel cancer.

Thirty overweight but otherwise healthy subjects were recruited for the study. Blood samples were collected before and after ten to twelve minutes of intense exercise and then tested against bowel cancer cells.

Results showed that brief, intense exercise increased the level of thirteen unique proteins in the blood. These proteins have been shown to help reduce inflammation, promote vascular health, and support metabolic activity.

The study emphasizes that brief, regular physical activity can reduce cancer risk and promote overall health.
