SC Issues Written Order on Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer—Key Details Revealed
Earlier, the Supreme Court has issued its written order directing authorities to transfer incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad within the next two days for medical examination and treatment.
According to the written decision, a medical board comprising doctors from Shifa International Hospital will be constituted to oversee Khan’s examination and treatment. The board will include a physician, general surgeon, internal medicine specialist, eye specialist and cardiologist.
The court also permitted Khan’s personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan, and his sister, Dr Uzma Khan, to remain involved in his medical examination and treatment.
The Supreme Court directed that all expenses related to Khan’s treatment and medical facilities at Shifa International Hospital would be borne by the prisoner or his family.
The court further ordered that Khan be allowed to meet his family once a week and speak to his sons by telephone twice a week.
Authorities have also been directed to submit to the court Khan’s complete medical record and test reports from the date of his arrest to the present.
The Supreme Court sought details, through the Advocate General, of all meetings between Khan and his family members and lawyers during the past three months.
The written order also directed the submission of complete details of all cases registered against Khan, including his arrests, ongoing trials and convictions.
Meanwhile, notices have been issued to all parties in the contempt of court appeals. The court directed the parties to appear in person and submit written responses.
The Supreme Court has fixed the next hearing of the case for September 16, 2026.
