ISLAMABAD: Easypaisa Digital Bank is about to change its users’ lives by allowing them to make cross-border payments in over 100 currencies and receive remittances straight to their Easypaisa accounts from more than 100 countries, a facility that has just been introduced and announced.

It was indeed a special dinner at a local hotel hosted by Easypaisa Digital Bank where the announcement was made to celebrate the first birthday of its digital banking activities. Along with federal ministers, policymakers, regulators, business leaders, and media personnel the event was witnessed by the Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan, Ant International President Douglas Feagin, and Easypaisa Digital Bank President and CEO Jahanzeb Khan.

As the chief guest at the ceremony, Information Technology and Telecommunication Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja congratulated Easypaisa for its first year as a digital bank. She said that the government has decided to keep the digital economy promotion as a top priority and is taking coordinated and concrete steps in line with the Prime Minister’s directives to achieve this goal.

On this occasion, State Minister for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani stated that the involvement of digital finance experts is a necessity for effective policymaking. He pointed out that making the public understand the real and practical benefits of a cashless economy has become a very urgent need.

Easypaisa Digital Bank has disclosed that its platform had more than 3.8 billion transactions in 2025 which amounted to Rs15 trillion in value.

As per the statistics provided by the company, digital transactions have reached the stage where they represent around 11 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Pakistan. Easypaisa has from the very beginning catered to the financial needs of one-fifth of the population of Pakistan, and women’s participation has been 31 percent of the total users, this is a clear indication that the digital platform is slowly and steadily empowering women’s financial inclusion and digital literacy.

At the function, the Easypaisa company declared its partnership with Ant International’s WorldFirst platform. Easypaisa users will now be able to send and receive payments in more than 100 currencies under this partnership, thus transcending the boundaries of traditional remittance corridors like the Gulf region, the UK, and the US.

The project is likely to enable a quicker, safer, and more user-friendly financial ecosystem for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and Pakistani expatriates.
