BANNU / HANGU: A wave of severe weather across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has left 31 people injured following widespread accidents, including walls and rooftop collapses in Bannu and a lightning strike at a security post in Hangu.
In Bannu district, strong winds and torrential rain caused structural damage in multiple areas, resulting in 24 injuries.
According to Rescue 1122, incidents of walls and buildings collapsing were reported at several locations, including Old Karam Pul Surani near Medina Park, Ghafar Khel in Tehsil Kaki, and near the Surani Talgi Mosque, trapping several individuals under the rubble. Rescue teams immediately responded to the sites, pulling victims from the debris and shifting them to nearby hospitals after administering initial medical assistance.
Meanwhile, in Hangu district, a lightning strike hit the Sangar check post of the Federal Constabulary (FC). Police officials confirmed that seven FC personnel sustained injuries due to the lightning strike. The injured soldiers are reportedly in stable condition and have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
On the instructions of Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Fahad and Director Operations South Arif Khattak, District Emergency Officer Bannu Bakhtullah Wazir is personally supervising the ongoing operations. All Rescue 1122 teams in Bannu remain on high alert as monitoring continues. Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the bad weather and to stay away from dilapidated walls, trees, and vulnerable buildings, urging the public to contact the 1122 emergency helpline immediately in case of any untoward incident.
