CHARSADDA: Senator Aimal Wali Khan, president of Awami National Party (ANP) stated that the recently enacted 27th Constitutional Amendment has effectively ended the practice of judges ousting elected Prime Ministers and Presidents due to outside influence.

Addressing the concluding match of the All Pakistan Asfandyar Wali Khan Football Tournament, he mentioned that this amendment represents a move to stop judicial meddling, in democratic governance.

ANP chief said that the judges who stepped down following the amendment were the ones who hindered ANP in the 2002 elections during Pervez Musharrafs era and those who backed dictators such, as Zia-ul-Haq and Musharraf previously.

“Kids are compelled to experience hardship despite available resources”

The ANP leader said that although there are resources children nationwide are enduring lives filled with hardship. “Our children are denied the opportunity to study denied the chance to play and denied a life ” he remarked. He further noted that government policies are steering the youth toward weapons, then education.

He mentioned that in regions lacking schools, playgrounds and opportunities the state should reflect on what it anticipates from generations. Aimal highlighted that ANP supports all initiatives that advance education, sports, arts and the growth of youth.

Aimal Wali Khan stated that ANP backed the Amendment solely after their concerns, about education, resettlement, NFC and the 18th Amendment were resolved. “We have never yielded on these matters ” he further remarked.

“Peace jirgas are not the government’s job”

He‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ criticized the government for focusing only on the release of one prisoner without planning to fight terrorism or take any other measures for development and well-being. According to his words, the citizens are tired of terrorism and demand its complete elimination.

He asserted that it is knowledge that moved the militants, released the 102 most dangerous detainees, and allowed the militant factions to re-establish their ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌bases.

He claimed that it is knowledge who relocated militants, who freed 102 high-risk detainees and who permitted militant factions to rebuild their bases.

Warning of rising tension with Afghanistan

Regarding the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Aimal Wali Khan stated that ANP supports peace and amicable relations, then strife.

He cautioned that lasting peace cannot be achieved without public representatives. He further stated that international powers desire unrest, in the area and that Pakistan and Afghanistan are being driven toward a devastating confrontation that might turn into the “last phase of a worldwide cold war.”
