QUETTA: Indian-sponsored terrorists of FAK and FAH attacked a Customs Check Post at Ziarat Cross on the night of August 31.
According to initial reports, Frontier Corps and Police personnel were also deployed at the post for the protection of Customs staff. The soldiers at the post fought bravely and repelled the attack. In the ensuing firefight, 10 terrorists were killed.
Meanwhile, one Customs official and 6 security personnel, including an officer, sustained injuries. Following the attack, FC Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) reached the site and launched a pursuit operation against the fleeing terrorists.
Officials stated that the Customs check post at Ziarat Cross was established to check non-customs-paid vehicles, drug trafficking, and smuggled goods entering from Afghanistan via Spin Boldak.
Authorities said the attack exposes the “Political – Terror – Criminal Nexus” operating in the area to protect smuggling and illegal trade routes.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and search operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining terrorists. Injured personnel have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
