ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party, Muhammad Humayun Khan, in his special message, paid tribute to workers, labourers, and daily wage earners across the country, saying that workers are the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, whose tireless efforts, sacrifices, and determination drive the nation towards progress and prosperity.
He said that Labour Day reminds us of the historic struggle of workers for their rights. It is a day to renew our commitment to further strengthen efforts for the protection of workers’ rights, their welfare, and the provision of dignified employment opportunities.
Muhammad Humayun Khan emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always been a pro-labour party. In line with the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the party has taken historic steps for securing workers’ rights, increasing wages, ensuring social security, pensions, and implementing labour laws.
He further stated that even today, the party remains fully committed to safeguarding workers’ rights. We will ensure the strict implementation of minimum wage laws, the provision of basic facilities such as healthcare, education, and housing for workers, full enforcement of labour laws, and protection for workers in the informal sector.
He urged the government to provide immediate relief to the labour class in this time of rising inflation, create more employment opportunities, and take concrete measures to resolve workers’ issues.
Muhammad Humayun Khan concluded by reaffirming that the Pakistan Peoples Party stands shoulder to shoulder with workers and will continue to raise its voice for the protection of their rights at every forum.
