ABBOTTABAD: Former Chief Minister and former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, while talking to the media in Abbottabad, said that terrorism has increased in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the last several years.

He said that the narrative of the PTI government was completely wrong. He said that full efforts were made to make negotiations successful, but the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa became an obstacle to successful negotiations.

Aftab Ahmad Sherpao said that there was no government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in real terms. There was no one responsible for the protection of the lives and property of people in the province. He said that the imposition of emergency was a compulsion and public confidence will have to be restored.

He said that under Governor Rule, steps should be taken to end uncertainty and reduce terrorism. He said that people should get relief; only then objectives of Governor Rule will be fulfilled.

Clarifying rumours about his becoming Governor, Aftab Ahmad Sherpao said that there is no truth in social media news about his becoming Governor.

He said that for the development of the province, all stakeholders will have to sit together. Aftab Sherpao said that an increase in petroleum product prices increases inflation. He said that the federal government has left Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. He demanded that the federal government should play its role to solve problems of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The former Interior Minister said that peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are essential for the peace of the entire Pakistan, and without restoring confidence of the people of the province, long-term development and security cannot be ensured.
