Medical experts have identified vitamin B deficiency, particularly folate (vitamin B9) deficiency, as a possible cause of persistent physical fatigue and cognitive problems.

According to a medical report, many people tend to attribute constant tiredness and forgetfulness to work-related stress or lack of sleep, while a deficiency of folate may also be responsible for these symptoms.

Folate plays an essential role in the production of red blood cells. Its deficiency can lead to anaemia, reducing the supply of oxygen to different parts of the body and resulting in persistent tiredness and weakness.

The vitamin also plays an important role in maintaining healthy brain function and supporting neurotransmitter activity. A deficiency may contribute to memory problems, difficulty concentrating, irritability and sluggishness.

Other symptoms associated with folate deficiency may include muscle weakness, dizziness, pale skin and a swollen or sore tongue.

Experts recommend incorporating folate-rich foods into the daily diet. Good natural sources include green leafy vegetables such as spinach and broccoli, lentils, peas, eggs and nuts.
