CHARSADDA(ALIF KHAN SHERPAO): Despite the passage of years since the tragedy, the wounds of the families of the martyrs are fresh and they are still waiting for complete justice and job oppertunties in the university to support their families.
The dark day of January 20, 2016, is still fresh in the hearts of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially the residents of Charsadda, when terrorists cowardly attacked Bacha Khan University and martyred dozens of students, teachers and employees.
Awami National Party (ANP) Charsadda Youth Affairs Secretary and former President of Pakhtun Students Federation Bacha Khan University, Naveed Gagiani, has issued an important statement on this occasion, raising the voice of the rights of the victims. He said precious lives were lost in this tragic incident, many employees were seriously injured and are still suffering from the trauma of this shock and physical disability.
“It is a matter of great sadness that the employees who faced this horrific incident of terrorism and were injured are out of the university’s service today. This is a complete injustice to them.”Naveed Gaggiani and the representatives of the victims have demanded government and the university administration rehabilitate the injured employees.
The university administration has been asked to immediately reinstate the employees who were injured in the Bacha Khan University tragedy to appropriate positions in the university so that they can earn their livelihood with dignity and support their families.
The government has been urged to take effective action against the facilitators and masterminds of this terrorist incident so that the families can be assured that the blood of their loved ones was not in vain. The security system in educational institutions should be made more foolproof so that no student or teacher has to face such a situation in the future.
The sacrifices of the martyrs of the Bacha Khan University tragedy are the nation’s asset, but ignoring the injured is a big question mark for the state and educational institutions. The people of Charsadda have now become the voice of the entire Charsadda, that not only statements are needed against terrorism, but practical steps are needed for the rehabilitation of the victims.
