PESHAWAR: A distinguished journalist, Aneela Shaheen, passed away on Thursday morning at a hospital in Peshawar, where she had been receiving treatment for several days.

Her funeral prayers will be held today, Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Haji Darya Khan Baba Janazah in Chamkani. The Khyber Union of Journalists expressed that the loss of Aneela Shaheen is a profound and irreparable tragedy for the journalistic community, and her absence will be deeply felt.

The atmosphere at the Peshawar Press Club is heavy with sorrow following her sudden demise. Tearful eyes and grieving hearts are evident among her colleagues. Aneela was not only a dynamic, dignified, and talented journalist but also a beloved sister to over 500 members of the Khyber Union of Journalists. She was always at the forefront during her colleagues’ joys and sorrows, whether visiting someone, celebrating a happy occasion, or providing encouragement in difficult times.

Her sincerity was reflected in her smile, her acceptance was evident in her tone, and her dignified behaviour won the hearts of everyone she met. Today, that smiling face has fallen silent, leaving a void in the Press Club that will not be easily filled.

Union officials paid tribute to her professionalism, noting that she approached her responsibilities in journalism with honesty, hard work, and dignity, remaining steadfast in her principles at all times. The Khyber Union of Journalists officials and members extend their heartfelt condolences to her family, assuring them that the entire journalistic community stands united with them in this time of grief.

May Allah Almighty grant her a high status in His mercy, fill her grave with light, elevate her ranks, and provide patience to all her loved ones. Amen.
