WASHINGTON: United States has announced a $10 million reward for anyone providing information about senior Iran leaders, according to the US State Department.
Authorities have also offered to relocate informants to safe locations. The reward is particularly focused on those associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ leadership.
The high-ranking officials who have been implicated by various media reports include Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, as well as Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib. There is also Ali Asghar Hejazi, Major General Yahya Rahim, and Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni.
US officials said the move aims to gather intelligence on Iran’s security and military leadership.
Abbas Araghchi: US asking other nations to protect Strait of Hormuz
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has claimed that the United States is seeking assistance from other countries to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz.
In his statement, shared on social media, Araghchi said that the US president had requested various nations, including China, to provide naval vessels to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the security umbrella provided by the US has become weak and ineffective. Iran has also renewed its demand for the removal of foreign forces from the region.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the tensions in the Middle East are being caused by the policies of Israel.
