SYRIA: The US has launched heavy airstrikes targeting ISIS targets in Syria.
According to US media, the US military has launched a major air operation against ISIL, successfully hitting several targets in central Syria. US officials said that fighter jets and helicopters participated in the operation and destroyed important ISIS centers, weapons depots and facilities.
According to officials, these airstrikes were carried out in response to the attack on US soldiers in Syria in recent days.US Secretary of Defense Pat Hegseth said that the operation has been named Operation Hawkeye Strike, which aims to destroy ISIS’s infrastructure, weapons and military capabilities.
It should be noted that three American citizens, including two American soldiers, were killed in a shooting incident during a joint patrol near the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra last week. After this incident, US President Donald Trump announced a strong response.
After the airstrikes, US President Donald Trump issued a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, saying that intensive attacks are being carried out on ISIS positions in Syria and that this operation has the full support of the Syrian government.
President Trump added that strong counter-attacks against ISIS are underway as promised and those who attack the United States will be responded to much more severely than before.
On the other hand, the Syrian government has also announced that military operations against ISIS will continue and that operations will not be stopped until terrorism is completely eliminated.
