Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has said that the sentence will begin after the period of 190 million pounds case expires.

According to the details, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar has said that the sentence awarded to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana 2 case will come into effect only after the period of the previous sentence of 190 million pounds case expires.

Atta Tarar said in a statement that after the first 14-year sentence is completed, the new sentence of 17 years will begin. According to him, the case proved that the value of the gifts was deliberately undervalued under the fraud, which caused damage to the government treasury.

He further said that the estate suffered a loss of crores of rupees and the gifts were kept for personal use, while Bushra Bibi gained financial benefits by withholding the gifts. According to the Information Minister, a loss of Rs 30 million and Rs 70 million was recorded in this case, and the court sentenced the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi to 10 and 7 years respectively.

It should be noted that in the Toshakhana II case, the Special Judge of the Accountability Court, Central Shahrukh Arjumand, while pronouncing the verdict in the presence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, sentenced both to 10 and 10 years in prison. In addition, separate sentences of 7 and 7 years were also given under Section 409 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which made both of them sentenced to 17 and 17 years in prison in total.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 16.4 million on each accused, and if the fine is not paid, they will have to serve an additional 6 and 6 months in prison. The period spent in custody has also been included in the total sentence in this decision.

Atta Tarar said that this decision was made completely in accordance with justice and law, and no political pressure or interest was involved in it. He further explained that this sentence has been given on the basis of deliberately undervaluing the gifts of Toshakhana and obtaining personal benefit, so that the principle of state gifts and public trust can be strengthened.
