BANNU: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu, along with the District Police, killed two most wanted target killers of Fitnatul Khawarij during a successful intelligence-based operation in Mamakhel, Huwaid area of Bannu district.
According to the CTD spokesperson, there was information that some terrorists were planning a major sabotage operation in the area. Upon receiving the information, CTD SWAT teams and Bannu police launched a joint operation. During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the forces, who retaliated effectively. The exchange of fire continued for about half an hour.
The statement said that upon completion of the search operation, two terrorists were found dead while two of their accomplices managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness. A search operation is underway in the area to arrest them.
According to the CTD statement, the slain terrorists have been identified as Fazalullah alias Faizullah alias Hanzalah and Safir-ur-Rehma, son of Wali Dad. Both were involved in the killing of policemen, kidnapping and attacks on police posts.
A Kalashnikov with two magazines, a 9mm pistol with a magazine, two hand grenades, two mobile phones and a card of a banned organisation were recovered from the possession of the slain terrorists.
According to the spokesperson, terrorist Fazlullah was wanted in the kidnapping and attack of Constable Javed, the martyrdom of Constables Nasrullah and Hayatullah and the attack on police post Sheikh Landak.
While terrorist Safir-ur-Rehman was involved in the martyrdom of Constable Zubair and attacks on police posts Fateh Khel and Khairaki Mumm Khel, in which policemen Isar Khan and Ajmal Khan were injured.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Additional IG CTD have given special praise to the brave soldiers of the Counter Terrorism Department and Bannu Police for their successful operation against the terrorists and lauded their high morale and professional performance.
