BANNU: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), in a joint operation with the Bannu police, killed two terrorists on the Pir Dad Khel road on Thursday.
According to the police spokesperson, an IED planted on Pir Dil Khel Road was recovered, and two alleged terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire in Bannu district. Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully thwarted a major terror plot during a joint operation based on a tip-off.
A police spokesperson reported that information was received from the Cantt Police Station indicating that terrorists were in the process of planting an IED on Pir Dil Khel Road. Upon receiving this information, a significant contingent of police and CTD personnel swiftly arrived at the scene.
Upon their arrival, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the security forces. The exchange of fire continued for some time, and later, during a search operation, the bodies of the two alleged terrorists were recovered.
The police reported that modern weapons and explosives were found in the possession of the slain terrorists, which have since been secured. Authorities are currently working to identify the two deceased individuals and are intensifying investigations to uncover their network.

DPO Bannu Saleem Abbas Kalachi stated that the prompt action taken by the police and CTD prevented a major tragedy in the city. He noted that while the terrorists aim to disrupt the peace and safety of the community, security agencies remain vigilant and determined to thwart their malicious intentions. Following the incident, police and CTD personnel cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation to apprehend any other suspects who may have been present. Local sources indicated that the operation caused some panic in the area, but the situation was quickly brought under control.
