BAJAUR: At least two persons, including the president of a local bazaar, were killed in a firing incident in Inayat Kalley Bazaar area of Bajaur tribal district on Tuesday.
According to police spokesperson, armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire at people in the busy Inayat Kalley Bazaar, critically injuring two persons. Rescue teams and local people shifted the injured to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Khar, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
The deceased were identified as Ismail Zargar, son of Habibullah, who was serving as the President of Nawagai Bazaar, and Ajmal, son of Ziarat Khan. After the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and collected evidence from the crime scene.
Police said the motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained and an investigation has been launched. No arrest has been made so far. The incident spread panic in the area, while local traders condemned the killing and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved.
