WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump confirmed that India was about to impose war on Pakistan again, a fight he claims to have successfully avoided during his tenure.

Trump’s announcement came during a talk between him and the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House.

Trump, known to be always ready to make daring foreign policy changes, bragged about his administration having “stopped 8 major wars” and further, he singled out the non-occurrence of the war between Pakistan and India as the one he was most proud of.

US President talked about how the confrontation between the two nuclear superpowers had become so high that it was almost certain that a war would take place.

In the middle of the escalation and the exchange of harsh words between India and Pakistan, Trump said, “I stopped the war between Pakistan and India, the one that was about to break out again.” “I took the war off the ground by means of trade talks and diplomacy, and now both countries are acting more nicely,” he continued.

The conflict between the two sides has been marked by a great deal of tension, politically and militarily, which has mainly been a result of the Kashmir issue.

The two neighbours have had continuous political and military tensions, mostly because of the Kashmir matter. The relations between Pakistan and India have been moving in cycles of very weak diplomatic ties and even more military threats in the last few years.

Trump, besides directing the Subcontinent crisis, also showed some hope regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. He expressed his wish for the war to end soon, albeit he added that the situation had become much longer than he had initially thought.

Trump’s remarks on Iran were remarkable as well. He signalled his willingness to go back to the table with Iran concerning the nuclear issue, acknowledging that Tehran had shown interest in a deal. “I’m ready for a deal with Iran. The talks have already started,” Trump asserted.
