UPPER KURRAM (Adnan Haider): At least two people were killed, and another sustained critical injuries in a series of landmine explosions in the Upper Kurram area of Kurram District on Saturday, according to police reports.

Three powerful blasts occurred at Nasti Kot, where explosive devices had been planted along unpaved routes, allegedly with the intent to target civilians. As a result, two individuals died on the spot, while a third was critically injured.

The deceased and the injured individual were transported to a nearby hospital, where the condition of the wounded person was reported to be serious.

Following the incident, panic spread among the residents. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down those responsible for the blasts.

Police officials stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the nature of the explosives used. A case has been registered against unidentified militants, and authorities have pledged to apprehend those involved and bring them to justice.

Militants attacked a police checkpost in Kurram on Sunday, triggering an exchange of heavy fire between the two sides, officials said.

According to initial reports, both militants and security personnel used heavy weapons during the clash. Police said additional force had been called in to the area to control the situation.

Early information suggested that two militants were killed in the encounter, while three police personnel sustained injuries. The wounded were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
