KURRAM: At least three people were killed when lightning struck a house in the Kurram district of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rescue 1122 said on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122, three people from the same family were killed in the incident. The lightning struck the house of a local resident in the Kurram town in the Kurram district.

Rescue 1122 officials said the Rescue teams reached the incident place and took the victims to the hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.

The administration has sought a report on the incident and has started further action.

Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds caused widespread damage in various parts of the southern region in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the other day. More than 50 people were injured in the rain-related incidents.

Heavy rain, cloudy weather to persist across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: PMD

Mainly hot and partly cloudy weather is expected in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next 24 hours, while rain is likely to lash the northern region of the province.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience heavy rain, and the weather is likely to remain hot and cloudy in the other areas.

The PMD predicted heavy rain in Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Kohistan, Torghar, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.

It said the Rain is also likely in Haripur, Tank, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Kurram, and Orakzai.

The province south region, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Tank, North and South Waziristan may also receive the showers in the next 24 hours.

According to the PMD report, dusty winds are likely in the plains of the province.

It mentioned that Parachinar, Bannu, Balakot, Cherat, Kakul, and Pattan received heavy rain on Wednesday.

Kakul received 42 mm of rain, Bannu, Balakot, Pattan-5 mm, and Cherat 4 mm.

Peshawar recorded a minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius.

The city’s maximum temperature is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius

According to the Meteorological Department, Malam Jabba and Kalam recorded a temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. In DI Khan, the mercury may reach 42 degrees Celsius.
