Three personnel of the Police force were martyred when an improvised explosive device(IED) hit a police mobile in Dera Ismail Khan near Panyala check post on Wednesday.
The explosion took place near the police mobile, causing severe damage to the vehicle, and three police personnel were martyred on the spot. Police said that the device was planted on the roadside, which exploded with a big bang. As a result of the terrorist attack, ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and driver Sakhi Jan were martyred on the spot.
According to police officials, the area was immediately cordoned off and blockaded after the explosion so that the suspects could be found. According to initial investigations, the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), however, further investigations are underway to identify the nature of the incident and the bombers.
Among the martyrs, ASI Gul Alam was associated with the police service for a long time, while constable Rafiq and driver Sakhi Jan were also serving. Police officials have called the incident a possible act of terrorism and appealed to the public to be cautious in the area.
The local administration and security forces have launched a search operation in the affected area, and various teams have been formed to investigate the cause of the explosion. The police have requested the public’s cooperation and said that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent further damage.
After the incident, the provincial government has strongly condemned the attack and declared a high alert in the province. The government has assured that compensation and all possible assistance to the families of the martyrs would be provided.
