PESHAWAR: More than 10,000 domiciles in Peshawar have been declared suspicious, with authorities beginning a verification and investigation process, according to official sources.
Sources said domiciles issued in the past by various union councils across the city are being scrutinized, particularly those allegedly issued to Afghan refugee students.
The verification process has also been launched across all districts and tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to identify suspicious domiciles. Officials said any domicile found to have been issued illegally or fraudulently would be cancelled following verification.
According to sources, scrutiny of domiciles issued from different areas of Peshawar is currently underway, while details of the suspicious documents have also been shared with law enforcement agencies.

Sources further said investigations are also being conducted in areas where individuals allegedly obtained Pakistani identity cards and passports through illegal means.
he areas reportedly under scrutiny include Gharibabad, Khyber Colony, Faqirabad, Latifabad, Zargarabad, University Road, Ring Road, Charsadda Road, Haji Bangla Road and Bashirabad, among others.
Sources said legal action would be taken against individuals found to have obtained domiciles through illegal means after completion of the verification process.
Authorities are expected to cancel all domiciles found to be fake or unlawfully issued in accordance with the law.
