MARDAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Department on Thursday arrested a revenue officer (Tehsildar) red-handed while taking a bribe from a citizen.

The Anti-Corruption Department team conducted the raid in the tehsil Garahi area, where they arrested the tehsildar red-handed when he was taking a bribe from the applicant.

The source said that Tehsildar Aqdas Rehman had been posted in Tehsil Garhi Kapora, which came under the grip of Anti-Corruption following a citizen complaint.
On the complaint of a citizen, the Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted a sting operation against the Tehsildar in the presence of District Magistrate-1 Mardan.
According to sources, Tehsildar Aqdas Rehman was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a citizen and the amount of Rs 30,000 taken as a bribe was recovered from the possession of the Tehsildar.

The Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa later registered a case against the accused Tehsildar and began further interrogation.
Other revenue officers of the Circle were summoned for verification of the report.

Officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Department, on the occasion, said that legal actions against corruption will continue until the elimination of the menace from society.
