ISLAMABAD: The government has suggested it might permit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership to have a meeting with its founder Imran Khan.

Talking to a private news channel, Federal Minister for Information Ata Tarar stated that a meeting with the PTI founder could be organized if the PTI leadership complies with prison regulations. He noted that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s behaviour has become better and provided PTI members stick to the jail guidelines, a meeting with PTI founder will be held.

Ata Tarar additionally explained that during Nawaz Sharif’s imprisonment, his attorneys refrained from debates and concentrated exclusively on his legal matters. Nonetheless, in the scenario when PTI leaders assemble, they partake in political dialogues breaching the jail regulations. He stressed that breaching the jail guidelines would lead to the cessation of meetings.

The Information Minister further remarked on Imran Khan’s living conditions in jail, mentioning that his breakfast equals the amount that poor people consume over four days. He‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ also added that the ex-PM is so fit that he can easily run on a treadmill while cycling for 90 minutes in a jail cell. Ata Tarar stated that the citizens did not react to the street protests, which were called by the PTI and especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the least affected area as the PTI is there in the government. Nevertheless, he was accusing that people were coming in small numbers and the PTI electorate seemed to be disheartened and sitting at ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌home.

Tarar accuses PTI of leaving KP ‘in ruins’ after 12 years in power

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party faced a historic defeat on May 9, followed by India on May 10.

While inaugurating various development projects in his constituency, Tarar criticised PTI, accusing the party of prioritising personal and political interests over Pakistan’s welfare.

He mentioned that on May 9, there were attacks on memorials dedicated to martyrs, including some related to the sisters of the PTI founder, and highlighted how their interviews continued to undermine Pakistan.

Tarar also accused PTI of misappropriating £190 million and claimed that during its 12 years in power, the party had left Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in ruins without building a single school or university. In contrast, he asserted that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has undertaken significant development work across the country, with a plaque honouring Nawaz Sharif present on every major project.

The Federal Information Minister emphasised that strengthening democratic institutions and prioritising public welfare are paramount. He stated that promoting decency in politics and involving youth in the decision-making process is essential, and that practical steps are being taken to address public issues.

Tarar also referred to the strong backlash against statements made on social media concerning the army and national leadership, calling such remarks against the sacrifices of martyrs regrettable. He stressed that the interests of Pakistan should not be sacrificed for personal ego or political gain, and emphasised the need for serious measures to counter propaganda against national institutions.

Furthermore, the Information Minister assured that development projects would be completed swiftly and that initiatives to improve basic facilities are currently underway in the constituency.
