SWABI: SSG commando was martyred on Friday after he drowned in the River Indus while taking part in a search operation in Swabi.
According to details, the operation was launched to recover the body of Mehram the brother of Major Shehzad Khalid who had drowned in the river a day earlier.
During the underwater search, SSG commando Muhammad Tariq reportedly ran out of oxygen. He drowned as a result. His body was later recovered by the rescue team.
Local police supervised the transfer of the commando’s body to Bacha Khan Hospital in Swabi for legal formalities.
Officials said the search for Mehram’s body is still ongoing.
Authorities have expressed condolences to the family of the martyred commando and paid tribute to his sacrifice during the rescue mission.
