Security forces have averted a major suicide attack attempt by Khawarij in the Azam Warsak area of Barmal Tehsil of Lower South Waziristan.
The incident took place on Monday, and the attacker was killed as a result of the timely action of the security forces, while 14 civilians were injured due to the intensity of the blast.
The Khawarij tried to target the Pakistan Army post with a vehicle loaded with explosives. However, the high-alert forces deployed at the post, realizing the danger, targeted the vehicle from a distance and destroyed it before it reached the target.
Due to this professional action of the security forces, not only did the army post remain safe, but also the risk of a major loss of life was averted. The blast injured 14 nearby civilians, out of whom 7 were immediately shifted to DHQ Hospital Wana.
According to MS Dr. Jan Muhammad, all possible medical assistance is being provided to the injured in the hospital, and an emergency has been imposed. Immediately after the incident, security forces cordoned off the entire area, and a large-scale search operation was launched to find the fugitive terrorists or their facilitators.
Officials say that the Pakistan Army is fully committed to eliminating terrorism and protecting the public, and such cowardly intentions of the enemy will not be allowed to succeed under any circumstances.
