PESHAWAR: Snowfall has begun in the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing a significant drop in temperatures and intensifying the cold spell across the area.
In the upper parts of the Kurram district, snowfall has already started, with snowflakes also falling in Koh-e-Safed and nearby high-altitude areas. Meanwhile, light rain continues in the plains and urban centers. As a result of the rainfall in the plains and snowfall in the mountains, extremely cold weather conditions have settled in Parachinar and the surrounding areas.
The Meteorological Department has forecast cold and cloudy weather for most districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Waziristan, with snowfall likely in the upper regions.
Given these conditions, the Meteorological Department and district administrations have advised citizens to exercise caution while traveling to mountainous areas, avoid unnecessary trips, and take precautionary measures due to the prevailing weather conditions.
According to the MET office, the temperature recorded in Chitral is 3 °C, 6 °C in Malam Jaba, 9 °C in Peshawar, 10 °C in Bannu, and 4 °C in Abbottabad.
