PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has issued a six-month power shutdown schedule to carry out maintenance and development work on the electricity network.

According to an official notification, the schedule will remain in effect from October 16, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

The notification directs relevant departments to combine maintenance activities wherever possible to minimise power outages and reduce inconvenience to consumers. Officials have also been instructed to strictly follow the approved schedule, with no routine changes or additional shutdowns permitted without authorisation.

In the event of an unavoidable emergency, the concerned department will be required to submit a formal written request to obtain approval for an additional shutdown.

PESCO has made it mandatory for officials to inform major and industrial consumers, hospitals, educational institutions and local community representatives in advance of scheduled power suspensions to minimise disruption to essential services.

The company has also directed its departments to avoid power shutdowns for maintenance work on Fridays and Sundays, except when absolutely necessary.

The notification further stresses that all necessary safety measures must be ensured during maintenance and development activities to protect staff and other individuals.

According to PESCO officials, the planned work aims to improve the electricity distribution network and ensure a more reliable power supply to consumers in the coming season.
