PESHAWAR: Due to the prevailing security situation, more than one lakh unregistered property dealers have been identified in Peshawar, against whom action under the National Action Plan has been decided.

More than 10 lakh people have been found violating the Tenancy Act in Peshawar. Law enforcement agencies have expressed reservations over the security situation due to mobile property dealers in the city.

According to a report, unregistered property dealers are renting out houses to unrelated and unverified persons for the sake of commission, without maintaining any record. During various operations, it was revealed that the persons arrested did not possess any legal documents.

The report states that every second unemployed person in the city has become a property dealer – including tailors, milk sellers, cobblers, rickshaw drivers, shopkeepers, watchmen and general store owners.

Law enforcement agencies have taken serious notice of the situation and have sent details of these unregistered dealers to all police stations in the city. It has been decided to take strict legal action against violators and make registration mandatory for all property dealers under the Tenancy Act.
