SWAT: The District Administration has imposed a complete ban on bathing, swimming and boating in the Swat River, canals, drains, local streams and lakes for 60 days under Section 144.
District Magistrate Swat, Saleem Jan, issued the order on Wednesday after multiple drowning incidents were reported from different areas of the district. According to the notification, public access and tourist activities in and around water bodies have become a serious risk to human life.
To prevent further loss, the administration has prohibited all recreational activities, including swimming, bathing and boating in the Swat River and its adjoining canals, nullahs and lakes with immediate effect.
The order states that the ban will remain in force for two months. Authorities warned that any violation will lead to strict legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Officials have directed police and local administration to ensure implementation of the order and to keep tourists and residents informed about the risks. The administration urged citizens to cooperate and avoid water bodies during the ban period to protect lives.
