ISLAMABAD: In a first for Pakistan, young boxer Sameer Khan won the UBO Youth World Bantamweight Championship and returned with the esteemed title for the first time.
The title bout was held at the World Siam Stadium Boxing Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, where Sameer Khan dominated India’s Banti Singh. Faced in the 52 kg weight division, the Pakistani boxer dominated the bout from the onset, starting a barrage of strong attacks that outdid his rival.
Following his victory, Sameer Khan gave thanks to Allah on Twitter and was in turns congratulated by fans everywhere in Pakistan.

This victory is the first instance of Pakistan winning the UBO Youth World Bantamweight Championship, raising the nation’s profile within the international boxing fraternity.
