LOS ANGELES: The winners of the 2026 Academy Awards have been announced, with Michael B. Jordan taking home the Best Actor Oscar, while Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for their remarkable performances in their respective films.
American actor Michael B Jordan earned the prestigious Best Actor accolade for his powerful portrayal of twin brothers in the film Sinners. The film which revolves around the brothers confronting a mysterious and dangerous power received acclaim for Jordan’s ability to deliver multiple acting styles through his intense performance.
Irish actress Jessie Buckley claimed the Best Actress award for her captivating role as a mother in Hamnet. Buckley’s performance as a character who experienced both love and sorrow became a masterpiece that shocked both viewers and reviewers which earned her the prestigious honour. She triumphed over other nominated actresses including Rose Byrne If I Had Legs I’d Kick You Renée Renshaw Sentimental Value Emma Stone Bugonia and Kate Hudson Song Sung Blue.
The night saw Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Director Oscar for One Battle After Another which also received Best Picture honors. The film received critical acclaim throughout the night because its direction and storytelling and its overall filmmaking excellence.

Ryan Coogler also took home the Best Original Screenplay award for Sinners while Paul Thomas Anderson claimed the Best Adapted Screenplay award. Norway’s Sentimental Value won the Best International Film award.
