Former Pakistan Red-ball Head Coach Jason Gillespie has once again spoken out about Pakistan cricket affairs and blamed Aqib Javed the root cause of Pakistan cricket problems.
Gillespie said that the PCB still owes him thousands of dollars. “I did not compromise on principles, and I will not do so in the future,” he stated.”I could have stayed silent and accepted everything, but that’s not my nature. I am not a yes-man. I could have stayed quiet and taken my salary home. I knew I could be sacked within a few months. I am fed up with Aqib Javed’s negative talk about me,” the former head coach said.
He warned that if the negative comments continue, he will take legal action against Aqib Javed. “It breaks my heart to see the current state of Pakistan cricket,” Gillespie added.’Aqib Javed is the root of the problems’
Gillespie said Pakistan cricket is stuck in a damaging cycle. “The root of Pakistan cricket’s problems is Aqib Javed. I was warned about several issues before taking charge,” he said.”I was aware of the instability in Pakistan.
Coaching in Pakistan was supposed to be one of the biggest achievements of my career. Pakistan cricket has a glorious history and people here live for cricket,” he noted. He said he accepted the coaching role as an opportunity to improve the Pakistan Test team. “Bringing back fast bowling was part of my mandate. We wanted to prepare pitches that support bounce and fast bowling.”‘Aqib took charge of everything’
The former coach claimed that Aqib Javed’s appointment changed the entire scenario. “Aqib Javed became in-charge of everything in Pakistan cricket. I had no role in selection matters. The whole experience in Pakistan put me off coaching and affected me mentally,” Gillespie said.
He alleged that Aqib tried to assert dominance in their very first meeting. “Aqib Javed does not accept others’ opinions or suggestions. It was ‘accept what I say or leave.’ The support from the Chairman and Board made Aqib Javed stronger.””Such an environment is not acceptable for any self-respecting person. It was not Aqib Javed’s job to comment on my and Gary’s contracts. Gary and I were ready to give time for training camps in Pakistan,” he added.Advice for Mike Hesson
Gillespie also spoke about Pakistani legends. “Wasim and Waqar were my heroes. When I met them, I felt the same love and respect. I did not feel that with Aqib Javed.”He advised current head coach Mike Hesson to “trust his decisions and not become a yes-man.” “I hope Mike does not get dragged into this just for the sake of a salary,” Gillespie concluded.
