BANNU: A rescue worker Usman Khan was shot dead by unknown persons in the limits of Haved police station on Thursday evening.

Rescue 1122 official Usman Khan was going home on a motorcycle after finishing his shift when unknown armed men who had previously ambushed him within the limits of Thana Hoveed opened indiscriminate fire on him. As a result of the fire, Usman Khan was seriously injured and died on the spot.

Police action: Immediately after the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and started a search operation. However, the attackers managed to escape after the incident.

The police have registered a case against unknown persons. According to initial investigations, this appears to be a target killing, but the police are investigating from all angles.

The body of martyr Usman Khan has been handed over to the heirs after the post-mortem. Rescue 1122 officials and locals have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.

The security situation in Bannu and its surrounding areas has been tense for the past few days, in view of which the police have increased patrols and tightened checks at entry and exit points. There is intense anger and resentment in the area after the incident, especially among the rescue personnel who are always ready to serve humanity.
