KARACHI: Multan Sultans displayed a commendable all-around performance and defeated Rawalpindi by 6 wickets in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 match.
While chasing a total of 167 runs, the Sultans managed to score the required runs within 18.4 overs by losing 4 wickets and winning the game 8 runs early.
In their chase, the batting of Multan Sultans got off to a steady start, but later, Steven Smith took up an attacking approach and batted brilliantly scoring 56 runs off just 31 deliveries consisting of 5 fours and 3 sixes.
Alongside him, Ashton Turner contributed significantly towards the win with his unbeaten knock of 37 runs, while Arafat Minhas made a quick 7 runs at the end to secure the win.
Earlier, batting first, Rawalpindi had put up a total of 166 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. In his unbeaten knock, Daryl Mitchell scored 58 runs, and along with Dean Forster’s unbeaten 37 runs, put the team on a safe path, while Sam Billings made 29 runs.
In their bowling department, Asif Afridi took 2 wickets for the Multan Sultans side, while Mohammad Imran, Arafat Minhas and Mohammad Wasim dismissed one player each.
