PESHAWAR: Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tonight until October 7, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The upper districts of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad are likely to receive thunderstorms and rain.
The weather system may lower daytime temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
PDMA has directed district administrations to take precautionary measures, monitor rivers and streams, and keep drainage systems functional.
Tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the rainy weather. The public has also been urged to stay at safe places during thunderstorms, avoid power lines and not enter or cross floodwater.
The PDMA Provincial Emergency Operations Centre is monitoring the situation round the clock. People can contact the PDMA helpline at 1700 in case of an emergency.
