Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Sunday forecast strong winds, thunderstorms and light rain in several parts of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to the Met Office, most parts of the country are currently experiencing hot and humid weather conditions. However, a weather system is expected to bring cloud cover, gusty winds, and rainfall to various regions, resulting in a decrease in temperatures.

The PMD said the weather in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to remain partly cloudy, with chances of thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain at isolated places. In Islamabad and adjoining areas, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail during the day, while strong winds, thunderstorms and rainfall are likely during the afternoon and evening hours.

Meteorologists said intermittent rain may continue in some upper and plain areas over the next few days, which could help reduce the intensity of the prevailing heat wave. According to the forecast, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will continue to experience hot and humid weather. However, strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain are expected after noon in several districts, including Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, and Orakzai.

In Punjab, heat and humidity are likely to persist in most districts. Nevertheless, evening thunderstorms and gusty winds are forecast for Murree, Galiyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, and Narowal.
The Meteorological Department said most districts of Sindh are expected to remain extremely hot and humid, while coastal areas may experience partly cloudy conditions.

Similarly, hot weather is likely to continue across much of Balochistan, although Khuzdar and surrounding areas may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms during the evening and night.
