Pushtangi Spring: A Natural Gem at the Foot of Green mountains draws tourists to Rustam
RUSTAM, Mardan: Tucked at the foot of lush green mountains, Pushtangi Chashma in Rustam Tehsil has emerged as one of Mardan’s most scenic natural spots. With its crystal-clear cold water and breathtaking views, the spring is now drawing hundreds of visitors from across the region every summer.
Families and groups of young people from Rustam, Mardan, Swabi and Buner flock to the site during the hot months to escape the heat and enjoy the serene environment. The sound of flowing water, shaded trees, and the backdrop of hills make it a popular picnic destination.
Local visitors say the spring’s water is not only refreshing but also known for being clean and cool year-round. For many, a trip to Pushtangi has become a seasonal tradition.
“It feels like heaven here. The water is so cold and clean, and the mountains make the whole place beautiful,” said a visitor from Swabi. “We come here with family to spend the day away from city noise.”
Despite its growing popularity, tourists say the area still lacks basic amenities. There are no proper parking areas, washrooms, seating, or waste disposal facilities. Roads leading to the spring are also narrow and need repair, making access difficult during peak days.
“We request the government to pay attention to Pushtangi Chashma,” said a group of tourists from Buner. “If basic facilities are provided, this place can become a major tourist attraction and bring business to local people.”
Residents of Rustam echoed the demand, saying that with small investments in infrastructure, the spring could boost local tourism and create jobs for guides, vendors, and transporters.
Tourism experts note that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has many such hidden natural sites that remain undeveloped. Pushtangi Chashma, with its natural beauty and easy access from Mardan, Swabi and Buner, has the potential to be developed as a model eco-tourism spot.
Locals believe that if the government provides facilities like paved pathways, rest areas, safety measures near the water, and proper cleanliness arrangements, the number of visitors could increase manifold.
For now, Pushtangi Chashma remains a natural treasure beautiful, peaceful, and largely untouched. But for the people who visit it every summer, the message to the authorities is clear: protect this gem, and give it the facilities it deserves.
