LAHORE: The Punjab government on Thursday announced a ban on what it describes as an “extremist party” and will make a recommendation to the federal government regarding this action.
As reported by Aaj News, in a statement issued by the Punjab government, it was noted that the leadership of the extremist party will be placed in the Fourth Schedule under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Additionally, the government has decided to set a punishment of fourteen years in prison and a fine of two million rupees for illegal possession of weapons.
During a special meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz, it was determined that individuals involved in promoting hatred, incitement, and lawbreaking will be arrested. Cases of terrorism will be filed against those responsible for the martyrdom of police officers and the destruction of property.
As part of this decision, the leadership of the extremist party will be listed in the Fourth Schedule, their properties and assets will be transferred to the Auqaf Department, and there will be a complete ban on their posters, banners, and advertisements.
Furthermore, the Punjab government has decided to freeze the bank accounts of the extremist party and close their social media accounts. Strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the Loudspeaker Act.
The provincial government is also taking steps to bring Afghan citizens into the tax system and will conduct a combing operation against illegal foreigners.
A meeting on law and order was chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Additionally, strict measures against illegal weapons have been implemented, with an order for the immediate recovery of such weapons. The stocks of all weapon dealers will be inspected. Possession of illegal weapons is classified as a non-bailable offence, with a sentence of fourteen years in prison and a possible fine of up to two million rupees for offenders.
