PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday announced to hold a public meeting at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on August 5 to mark the completion of 3 years of the imprisonment of its founding chairman Imran Khan.
This decision was taken during an important meeting of the PTI central and provincial leadership held at the Chief Minister’s House, Peshawar. Addressing a press conference along with KP provincial minister for information Shafi Jan and others the PTI Central Chairman Barrister Gauhar said that on November 26, PTI workers were shot at in D-Chowk, in which several people were martyred and injured.
We raised our voice in the House and filed a private complaint in court, the first hearing of which was held in January 2025. But after the change of several judges, the petition was finally dismissed, which is injustice.
He expressed regret and said that they had only demanded that an inquiry be conducted and an FIR be registered against the nominated persons, but to no avail. He said that they would challenge the decision in the Supreme Court and appeal to the higher judiciary to listen to the case.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister Shafi Jan said that all senior leadership including the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the party chairman and the general secretary attended the meeting where it was decided to hold a public meeting in Peshawar on August 5.
The public meeting would be held at Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, in which workers from all over the country would participate. He further said that in the Peshawar public meeting, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would announce the next course of action, with which the Imran Khan Liberation Movement will be formally launched. Apart from this, peaceful protest rallies would also be held in all the cities of the country on August 5.
