Federal Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that terrorist organisations are using social media to target the state.

During a press conference in Islamabad, he said that the international media had also been briefed regarding terrorism against Pakistan. The government respects the right to freedom of expression at all levels, but no compromise will be made on the sovereignty of the country.

Talal Chaudhry criticised the PTI, stating that the party is systematically campaigning against national institutions and has been engaging in propaganda on social media for a long time.

He said that people take money and run trends on social media, and payment is made for each message.

The Minister of State said that PTI’s social media accounts are being run from abroad and propaganda-based trends are being run by creating fake accounts.

He further said that elements based abroad are mostly involved in creating false narratives and such elements have been warned that strict action will be taken if these activities are repeated.

Talal Chaudhry clarified that not all the trends running on social media are real but are based on propaganda and are systematically run in collaboration with companies based abroad.

Regarding terrorism, the Minister of State said that Pakistan condemns terrorism anywhere in the world and itself is among the countries affected by terrorism. Terrorists do not belong to any religion or country, but rather achieve their goals by taking the help of religion.
