KHYBER: People took to the streets against the target killing incident that took place in Landi Kotal Khyber last evening.

Protesters blocked the Pak-Afghan highway for all types of traffic in protest at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides.
According to local sources, two youths were shot dead by unidentified gunmen last evening, causing grief in the area. The people of the area protested against the incident and demanded effective measures from the government and state agencies to improve the law and order situation and prevent target killings.

The protesters said that the increasing incidents of unrest in Khyber district have caused great anxiety among the people and now the patience of the people has run out.

They demanded that the elements involved in the incident be arrested immediately and brought to justice and practical steps be taken for lasting peace in the area.
Senior police and administration officials reached the spot on information of the protest. He held talks with the heirs of the victims and assured them that immediate action had been taken to arrest the accused. DPO Khyber said that police have registered an FIR and started investigation into the incident and the accused will be arrested soon.

Local elders say promises for peace in Khyber have not yet materialised. He warned that if the target killings did not stop, the scope of future protests would be widened.
